Kathina Robe Offering is a wonderful Buddhist tradition that has been preserved for over 2500 years since the Lord Buddha’s time.
Kathina Dana – The Great & Special Merit The Kathina Ceremony is a culture that all Buddhists in every era agree that its merit is great and limitless. So, it is the meritorious event of the year that the congregation is waiting for.
The Kathina Ceremony is more special than the other ones because there are many restrictions to do such as this ceremony must be arranged within one month after the end of the Buddhist Lent, etc.
The Kathina Ceremony originated in the Buddha Time because the Lord Buddha saw the importance of changing the monks’ old saffron robes so he gave the permission that each monk could change his old saffron robe. Then, it becomes the tradition that has been done for over 2,000 years.
